Trunk Mount Bike Carrier for a 2012 Scion xB Hatchback

Hello, I am looking for an easily installable bike rack for our Scion XB 2012 Hatchback. Our son will be going off to college and we really only need a bike rack that will hold one bicycle, at the very most two. Were looking for something that is easily installed and easily taken off, as he will be utilizing the hatch a lot during his school time, but also needing to reinstall the rack on road trips back home. Please advise. Thank you very much.

The trunk mount bike carrier that is going to be the easiest to install and remove and that fits the 2012 Scion xB is the Thule OutWay # TH45JV. What makes it easiest to use is the fact that it uses 2 rubber coated straps rather than 6 straps like other carriers. I have an older version of this carrier and it is by far the easiest trunk mount carrier I have ever used. I have included a link to a video review for you.

For something that is more economical the Saris Bones, # SA805BL, is popular. I have included a link to a video review of this carrier.

If your son will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
