Recommended Load Range D Radial 14 Inch Tire for Trailer

Question:

I have unfortunately had some chinese 14inch load range c tires on my boat trailer dual axle. All four have exploded for no apparent reason with 100 tread wuthin one year. Capacity supposedly at 1750 each. My boat and trailer weigh in at about 7000 so admittedly it was close to max, but really! None of the 4 c rated sparesinch have blown yet other brands I see from your customer comments this is not a rare experience. I spotted the Kenda Taskmaster 215 75 R 14 D with 2200 lbs rating. Is this the highest load rating that can be had for a 14x6inch wheel and tire? If so these would look like a good choice. Thanks for any help or comments

I would highly recommend the Taskmaster Trailer Tire part # TTWTRTM2157514D. This is a radial tire that is Load Range D that would work very well for you. This is the highest load rating for a 215/75-R14 tire.

This Load Range D tire has an 8 ply rating and has a maximum load capacity of 2,200 lbs at 65 psi. Keep in mind that going with a higher rated tire won't increase the weight bearing capability of your trailer. You'll still be limited by the lowest rated component on your trailer. You will want to make sure you keep the tire inflated at the highest rate. You should inflate it when the tire is cold
