Landing Gear on a 1992 Avion 5th Wheel Trailer Will Not Retract

Question:

I have a 1992 avion fifth wheel. Single lead landing gear. Lifted trailer to max and gears started clicking. It is in full raised position and wont retract. Gears have 18 teeth on both and both gears have worn teeth and are slipping. Dont know what repl gear kit to get. Or repl leg to get. And dont know what to do. Help me please. Leg is also difficult to remove as it is all the way extended. Thanks

It sounds like the landing gear was being over extended and it is probably worn since the trailer is a 1992. It doesn't look like we have any landing gear replacement gears with 18 teeth. Given that the gears are worn, the system is struggling, and you could have unseen screw/nut damage I recommend replacing the landing gear.

I have included a link to the electric landing gear that we carry. The most popular option is # UF17-943010 which is rated for 12,000 pounds. The higher the capacity the easier it is for the jacks and the longer they will last.
