Will Derale Combo Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler # D15903 Fit 2005 Chevy Silverado LT 5.3L V8
Question:
Just wondering if the combination engine and oil cooler Part # D15903 will work on my silverado? Also wondering if it is better to buy two separate coolers or the combination? I do not of heavy towing, although recently my truck began to overheat while pulling my boat up a hill in the Mohave desert. Want something affordable that will do the job. Thank you for your time.

In normal conditions I think that the Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler, # D15903, would work fine for your 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, but since you mention the Mojave Desert, this is going to be a different story.
With excessive desert temperatures, it is going to take quite a bit more to cool the transmission fluid and engine oil. In this case I would use 2 separate coolers and go with the largest ones possible. Of course you will want to take a measurement to see how much room we have to work with.
One of our most popular set-ups is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, which measures 11 inches wide x 12 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep, and the Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit, # D15405, which measures 9-7/8 inches wide x 9-1/2 inches tall x 1-1/4 inches deep.
To save yourself the hassle of cutting and flaring transmission lines, you can use Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting, # D13035.
