Recommended Surco Safari Cargo Basket for 2015 Jeep Renegade Latitude

Question:

Im looking for a large safari-type basket to mount on top of my new Jeep Renegade. I have the factory installed side bars on the roof, but no cross bars. I see that the Surco basket can be installed directly onto the side bars. Would the 45x60 basket fit onto my vehicle? And if so, would I need to purchase any other hardware along with the item? If you have any other comparable systems you would recommend for a Renegade, I would love to see. I want a large basket that will run almost the entire length of the roof. Thanks!

The Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket # SPS4560-1101 does offer a great advantage in being able to mount directly to factory roof side rails without requiring a set of roof crossbars to be installed. This provides not only a substantial cost savings but also a weight savings which means you'll be able to use more of the Jeep's roof weight capacity for your actual cargo. The Surco weighs only about 30-lbs thanks to its corrosion-free aluminum construction. I suggest checking your owner's manual or with your dealership to confirm the Renegade's roof weight rating.

You can measure your Renegade's roof surface area to see if this 60 x 45-inch basket will fit to your satisfaction. Since it includes mounting adapters you do not need to add any other parts. If you find this basket too long you can instead use Surco's # SPS4550-1101 which is 50-inches long with the same 45-inch width.
