Second Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a Second Trailer
Question:
I have an old style Reese dual cam 26001 WD hitch on my travel trailer. This is the one with the straight trunnion bar with the cast cam bolted and clamped to the end. Will this old style bar work with the new style 26002? And can I purchase the upper bracket with the chain separately so I can use my hitch on two different trailers? I purchased an enclosed trailer and want to use my old style reese WD hitch with both. Thanks,

Due to the age of your weight distribution system there's no easy way to upgrade your current setup so that it could be used on two different trailers. The older style of dual cam that you have isn't compatible with the newer style.
The easiest solution would be to get a second WD system for your second trailer. Since WD systems have to be set up specifically for the trailer they are used on this will save you from having to re-set the system up for each trailer.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Once you know your tongue weight for the second trailer check out the link I attached to see all of the WD systems we offer. Select your tongue weight from the filters and the correct systems will be listed.
