Troubleshooting Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock On 2012 Ford F-150
Question:
Installed this product as per the manufacturers instructions but no action when hitting the unlock/lock button in the truck. I can manually lock and unlock but the automatic function does nothing. Is there any sort of troubleshooting I can do?

To troubleshoot the system, I recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
Disconnect the connectors at the tailgate and test the pins coming from the front of the truck while someone uses the locks in the truck cab. If you are getting current there is something on the tailgate side of the connector. Reconnect the system and test the wires on the tailgate lock side of the connectors. If you are receiving a signal the problem is in the unit itself and will need to be replaced.
If you are showing no power at the connector, there is a problem with the wiring. I took a look at the instructions and they state that on a 2009 and newer truck you will need the Grey/with a Brown(tan) stripe wire and the Light Blue/with Green stripe wire on the drivers side. For the passenger side locate the Grey/with a Brown(tan) stripe wire and the Purple/with Grey stripe wire. Make sure you have the correct wires and test the wires for current.
Fix any of the wire connections that are not installed correctly and test them well before closing up the areas you have been working in.
