Troubleshooting Brake Controller When Trailer Brakes Are Applied All The Time

My Prodigy is just braking itself what could that be.

There could be a couple problems here. You didn't mention if this is a new installation or if this has been installed for a while and started having issues.
First, I recommend using a circuit tester like part #PTW2993 and test the red wire at the back of the brake controller. If it shows power all the time, it has been connected to the incorrect wire. This should be connected to the cold side of the brake switch. It would only show power when the brake pedal is pressed. If it attached to a wire that has power all the time this would certainly cause the problem you are having.
If it shows power only when the brake pedal is pressed, but the output brake wire leading to the trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle shows power all the time, then the brake controller is bad and will need to be replaced.
