Is There Any Electrical Current At Power Cord Plug On Jayco Motorhome When Unplugged

Question:

Hi, Great video and am going to buy one of these. Not an electronic expert by any stretch but once I cut open the old cable behind the busted male plug on the RV shore cable, am I safe from electric shock? Obviously the cord is not plugged into external power but is the cord itself just hanging there live at all? I am assuming not and that I can touch all the wires since I will need to strip them but just want to make sure or find out how best to test it.. Thanks again. Your help is great... 2008 Jayco 31SS Ford engine 30amp

The best way to make sure you do not have any current at the plug or on the line is to find the breaker box on your RV and make sure you cut the power to the circuits by flipping the main off. There shouldn't be any current back feeding to the wires on the plug you want to replace but you can use a voltmeter to make sure.

The Power Grip Replacement RV Power Cord Plug w/ Handle, part # CAM55245 features a handle that makes it easy to plug and unplug the cord from the receptacles when needed.
