Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2008 Scion xB Behind a Motor Home with Stowmaster Tow Bar
Question:
will the stowmaster 5000 work with this?

The Roadmaster MX base plates # 1187-3A will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver such as the Falcon 2 # RM-520. The Stowmaster tow bar couples to a ball so would not work. If you already have a Stowmaster tow bar you can use base plates # 1187-1A instead for your 2008 Scion xB and they will work together.
You will also need safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow the xB. For safety cables I recommend # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting you could use a simple magnetic kit such as # RM-2120. Or for a more permanent solution our installers prefer to use the bulb and socket kit # RM-155.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
