Can You Back Trailer with Electric Reverse Lockout Down Boat Ramp without Surge Brakes Applying

Question:

Does the 4843100 have a manual reverse lock-out as well or does it ONLY have the electric reverse lock-out. My concern is when backing into the water I want to unplug the pin connector from my truck to the trailer: if I dont have manual control then the trailer is not backing into the water because its locked. Also, how to measure distance between wheel lugs.

The Titan Disc Brake Kit # T4843300 that you referenced only has an electric reverse lock out on it. The lever on top of the actuator is a breakaway device that will apply the trailer brakes in the event of a trailer disconnection.

Since boat ramps are downhill you wouldn't have to worry about the brakes applying as you back down the ramp. What you can do is wait till the trailer has started making it's way down the ramp before you disconnect the trailer wiring so that the brakes won't apply as you are backing the trailer down the ramp. Surge brakes do not automatically apply when the vehicle is in reverse. They will only apply if the trailer is "pushing" the tow vehicle at all. So down a ramp they wouldn't apply. Down a ramp a trailer would want to "pull" the tow vehicle.

I attached a help article that shows how to determine wheel bolt pattern.
