Brake Controller Recommendation for 2011 Ram 1500 4x4 Bighorn
Question:
Hello, I have a 2011 Ram 1500 4x4 Bighorn with the factory towing package it has the 4 and 7 pin trailer plugs on the bumper. I am considering a proportional trailer brake control module. What product do you recommend for my application? I am looking at a 2-axle dump trailer, but I have access to a 3-axle dump on occasion. Thank you,

When it comes to a brake controller for your 2011 Ram 1500, I recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195. This is a customer favorite because it is very user friendly. Being a proportional controller, it will activate the trailer brakes in proportion to your Ram's braking action. This controller will work for trailers with up to 4 axles and electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes. Another great feature is that the P3 also offers 5 preset storable settings that allow you to dial in your preferred settings for up to 5 different trailers.
The brake controller connector on your Ram will be located underneath the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. To be able to plug directly into this connector, with no splicing required, you will need Plug-In Wiring Adapter, # 3021-P.
