Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 3,000 lb Trailer

Question:

Hi, Two questions: 1 I have a 2015 toyota highlander and i want a weight distributing hitch, so i picked this one PS49901. Trailer is 3000lb and i tow it now with no problems except back of car sags. is this a good choice? 2 I need a 1-7/8inch ball for the hitch above. Say it takes a shank of 1-1/4, but the biggest shank on your site is 1inch for this ball dia. Thanks,

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of total trailer weight so your tongue weight would range from 300 to 450 lbs most likely. The part # RE34FR will work on tongue weights up to 600 lbs so it would be an excellent choice for you.
