Troubleshooting Trailer Light Flashers with 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Question:

With my 2012 tuscon and utility trailer- when car motor is not running and flashers are on, the trailer flashers work. But! When The motor is turned and running my all trailer lights are on but the flashers wont flash. Its weired! In summary the flashers work but only when car is off

It sounds like you might have a ground issue. A ground issue usually appears when there is a bigger draw is placed on the wiring. This could explain why the flashers work when the vehicle is off, but will not work when the vehicle is on. Check the white ground wire to make sure that the contact is secure and undamaged, free of dirt, and doesn't show signs of corrosion. Even if there aren't these visible signs, your ground may be in a bad location. Try moving the ground to a better location to see if that offers a solution. The best spot to ground your harness will be a place where the metal is double layered.

I also suggest testing the vehicle side trailer connector with a circuit tester, like # 40376. If everything is working fine on the vehicle side with the vehicle running, the problem could be related to an issue with the main trailer ground.
