Supplemental Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2008 Cadillac Escalade

Question:

I have a 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV, 6.2L, 6L80 transmission. Drove it to CA in June/July 2015 and monitored tranny temp during the trip. Temp stayed in the low 190s when doing 65-70mph until we got pass San Antonio TX. Had to stay below 64mph to help maintain tranny temp in the higher upper 190s for the rest of the trip. Outside air temp was 100-111 deg. Tranny temp did reach 208deg during up hill driving drove I-10 from FL to CA. My question is if I was to remove the stock OEM transmission cooler and replace it with this Derale cooler, what kind of results should I expect under those same conditions? I plan to drive back to FL from CA soon and would like to have this installed for that trip provided that I could expect a 10deg temp .

Actually for best results you would want to keep your factory transmission cooler and then add a supplemental one like the part # D52508 that you referenced. You would also need two of the barb fittings part # D98202 and then hose like part # D15700 and hose clamps # D13008 as well.

You will want to route the cooler downstream of the factory cooler so that it first goes through it and then through the Derale.

Your fluid temps are crazy high right now, but with an efficient cooler like the # D52508 you should drop around 20 degrees depending on how much airflow you can get to the cooler.
