Bike Rack Recommendations for Use Behind a 27 Foot 2005 Hornet Trailer Pulled by a Ford F-150

Question:

What would be the best bike rack for 2 bikes? We have a 27 foot 2005 Hornet trailer. The spare tire is in the middle of the back of the trailer, attached to the bumper. There are windows in the back of the trailer, nearly all the way across it. The Ford F150 towing the trailer does not have rails on the top roof. The bed of the truck has a tonneau cover. Thanks for your input.

I have a few possible solutions for you. First, if your 2005 Hornet trailer has a trailer hitch, I recommend the Swagman XC, # S64650. This is a platform style rack rated for use behind a trailer. The bikes are secured at the two wheels and the frame for maximum stability. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review of this rack below. If you do not have a hitch and want to use a hitch mount rack, you can install a hitch. I have included a link to our specialty hitches below.

If you have a square, continuous welded steel bumper and is between 4 and 4-1/2 inches, you can use the RV Bumper 2 Bike Rack, # S80605. This rack will fit around the spare tire as it extends out from the bumper 19 inches.

Another possibility is to install a front mount receiver hitch on your Ford F-150 and use a hitch mounted bike rack. I would just need the year of the truck to determine which front mount receiver fits.
