How to Pick Out a Weight Distribution System for a Ford F-150 Towing a Camper
Question:
I got a 30 ft 1971 avion trailer and a 2013 F150 FX2. I pulled it from Grand junction Colorado to south tx. I want to put a weight distribution system on it. I am at work and found a deal on a 1000 lb weight distribution with sway control. I dont know how much trailer ways or the tongue weight but was woundering if I would be able to use this or go with a lower weight control.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Your best option would be to first determine your loaded tongue weight so that you would know if the 1,000 lb setup you have would work or not.
If you need a different setup check out the link I attached that has all of the systems we carry. You would want to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would work best for you.
