Tow Package Running Light Circuit Stopped Working on a 2010 Nissan Frontier

Question:

I have a 2010 Nissan Frontier LE Crew Cab with the factory tow package. I have a cargo trailer that uses 4 wires on a 7 way plug. I have hooked up to my trailer before the incident and everything worked fine. I was hooking up to another boat trailer, and found out that one of the tail lights was shorted to ground, causing me to lose power on the brown connector pin on my truck. I think that the tail lights are operated by the No. 1 Tow Relay contacts, but isnt there a fuse that provides 12 volts to the common side of the relay contacts that might have blown? If so, do you know which fuse might have blown? I have checked in the fuse boxes, and cant find a blown fuse.

Expert Reply:

Circuits that are tied to relays usually do have a fuse. There are 2 fuse panels for your 2010 Nissan Frontier. One is under the hood and the other is in the cab of the truck. Check both locations and if there are no blown fuses then it is likely a bad relay (tow package running light relay) and it will need to be replaced. It should be one of the blue relays from the Curt Relay Kit # C57000.
