Can Electric Brake be Used on a Boat Trailer

I suspect the response that came directly from etrailer was marked as spam and subsequently d. I have referenced the response from etrailer if it is necessary. In the response it was suggested that I add electric brakes because of the ease and cost savings. The trailer has non functioning drum brakes and the lines were removed. Electric brakes would be great for me because my vehicle has the brake controller already Chevy Suburban so that would be one less thing to purchase, but from the research I have done it seems that most people say not to install electric brakes on a boat trailer. If my research has been misleading please let me know and I can press forward with the installation. I would appreciate a recommendation on a brake package that would be compatible with a GM brake controller and the trailer description below. If it is better to go with a Hydraulic brake system, I would appreciate recommendations on a suitable package/list of parts. I will also need an actuator and brake lines as well. I launch/recover primarily in brackish water 4 round trips so I was thinking of Dacromet/Stainless but also open to suggestions, cost considered. The trailer has a single 6,000 lbs axle with a 5/6 bolt pattern and 15 inch wheels. Electricity and water don't mix well, but we are starting to see more boat trailer manufacturers go with electric drum brakes. As long as you unplug the brakes before backing into water you should be fine. You would also need to let the assemblies dry before reconnecting them.

From the looks of the picture you submitted it looks like you have the standard 4 bolt brake mounting flange.

Next you would need to measure your current drums to pick out the correct assemblies. See attached picture. Once you know the size you need check out the link I attached that will take you to a page that has all of the assemblies we carry.
