Options for Hauling Both Bikes and Cargo in a Hitch Mounted Carrier

Question:

Im interested in one of your towing type bike racks. Specifically: 2 Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike Rack for 2inch Ball Mounts - Towing I have a Rola Dart Cargo Carrier that leaves approximately 2.5inch from the receptacle to the carrier. Both should be able to fit between the hitch and the carrier. However I want to be able to utilize the basket of the carrier as well. How much rise do either of these bike carriers have? Which one has the maximum rise to give the most clearance over the Rola basket once the bikes are mounted?

If you are looking to carry both bikes and carrier in a hitch mounted carrier, your best bet would be to go with something like our Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Platform 2 Bike Rack with Cargo Carrier, # HR1450Z-85.

The Curt Clamp-On, # C18013, is a ball-mount-mounted rack that you mentioned will both provide the same amount of rise. From the bike cradle to the top of the receiver clamp measures 27 inches (I included a picture for you) so unless you just plan on carrying very small children's bikes, the bikes will interfere with the cargo space on your (Discontinued) Rola Dart Cargo Carrier, 59550.
