Brake Pro Brake Pedal Monitor Installation on a 2002 Ford Explorer V8 with Neutral Tow Option
Question:
towing 2002 v8 ford explorer eddie bauer model with neutral towing switch and lights operating directly from motor home with extra bulbs kit, not using towed vehicles own lights. Can the brake pedal alert be wired directly from the cold side of the TOADs brake pedal switch or would a isolating diode be necessary. Is the brake pedal alert really necessary since the transmitter is in fact transmitting the roadmaster pedal actuation anyway?

On supplemental braking systems that push on the vehicle brake pedal the alert is telling you that the braking system arm is moving. It is not telling you that the vehicles brake pedal is moving which is what you really need to know.
Since you are using a bulb and socket kit you would not need the brake light relay. I confirmed this with my contact at Roadmaster. But you can test the cold side of the brake switch to see if it has power when the brake pedal is pressed, and the key is in the proper position for flat towing the 2002 Ford Explorer. You would just use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. The wire should be a tan/red or tan/black wire that may turn into a green wire.
