High Air Pressure Capacity 16 inch Aluminum Trailer Wheel Recommendation

Question:

We have just purchased 4 Goodyear 235/85 R16 a4 ply G614 tires that hold 110 psi and our 6 x 5-1/2 aluminum rims will only rate up to 80 psi. We see you have a steel rim Taskmaster steel rim F2519166060 that will hold up to 145 psi. We were wondering if you have any aluminum rims of our size that would fit our new tires and our rim sizes 16 x 6 6-5.5 with a 4.25 pilot diameter. Thanks... PS...We live in Ohio and traveled to South Dakota and one tire blow out, got the new tires put on with 110 psi on our 80 psi aluminum rims and the new tire blew the rim apart. So we ped the pressure to 80 psi to be safe. If you could give a response as soon as possible so we could order the rims from you and have them shipped to Hill City, South Dakota where we are camping. We would then have them mounted here before our trip back to Ohio on the 17th of July. Your help and prompt reply will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

The Aluminum HWT Series S5 Trailer Wheel # AM22658HWTB that you referenced should do well for you. I spoke to my contact at HWT and they informed me that the PSI rating for their wheels like the part # AM22658HWTB is limited by the valve stem and tire that is used in the wheel.

This rim has the correct bolt pattern and width that you listed as well to match # TA73VR.

We don't carry a valve stem for this rim that would have a high enough air pressure capacity but you should be able to find one at the tire shop you use to mount the tires and wheels.

I should also mention that you always want to have trailer tires inflated to their max pressure to ensure they do not fail.
