Recommended Weight Distribution for 6900 lb Trailer with 950 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
I am looking at weight dist, hitches and looking for advice as to which you think is best. I have a 28foot Jayco that weighs 6900 pounds loaded and tow with a 2012 2500 Ram with 5.7 Hemi that weighs 7200 pounds loaded. My tongue weight is 950# and will have 100 to 150 # behind rear axle. Please let me know your recommendations. Thank

If the 950 lb tongue weight figure you mentioned represents the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer, and includes the 100 pounds behind the rear axle of your Ram, then a weight distribution hitch with sway control like Reese # RP66084 would be ideal. This system is rated for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600-1200 lbs. The weight distributing shank is included, but you'll need the # 19286 2-5/16 trailer ball.
I'll link you to our help articles that address common WD questions and how to positively determine your trailer tongue weight.
