Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Activate Sporadically and Some Feel Like They are Dragging
Question:
Bought a new Tekonsha, new alternator, all new trailer brakes, magnets etc. 1000s deep in labor and parts. First time transporting USED units. Both 5th wheels giving wife and I similar problem. Hers seem to intermittently lock up or hardly work. My drivers rear, her drivers front seems hotter. Feeling, drag too. Really need to verify, AFTER 20 DAYS with loads, stuck in Des Moines, headed to California. And about broke. I am desparate.

Typically when a proportional brake controller like the P2 # 90885 is working in an unpredictable manner it is because it is not leveled properly. I attached a picture that details the orientation of the controller that it needs to be in.
It also sounds like your brake assemblies aren't adjusted properly. That would explain why some are locking up and others aren't, and some are dragging.
You will want to have the adjustment screw tightened to the point where the wheel locks up and then back it off 10 clicks. Check out the video I attached at the 4:25 mark.
