Compatibility of Frame-Mount 2-Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver with Trailer Frame Over 73-Inches Wide

Question:

I measured my frame of my trailer and it is 73 inches from the inside of the frame. you have a bolt on hitch that says it fits upto 72 inches. Am I measuring something wrong? Im assuming this will not work. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703 will fit on RV and trailer frames whose outside-to-outside frame width measurement is from 22- to 72-inches. If your frame's INSIDE measurement is 73-inches then this hitch will not be wide enough to fit to the outsides of the frame rails as intended by Curt.

Of all the frame-mount RV hitches we offer (see the linked page, please) this particular unit from Curt offers the widest possible dimension.

We also offer bolt-on bumper-mount receivers like the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946402 that will fit on 4 x 4-inch bumpers as long as they are not spot welded, but continuously welded along their entire length.

If you cannot use a bumper-mount hitch and you're certain of the frame width dimension then you'll need to have a trailer shop fabricate a hitch for you that will fit your RV's frame. It will be a good idea to first check with your trailer's manufacturer to confirm for how much capacity they rate their frame.
