Yes if your hitch is not rated for weight distribution systems that does mean that it should not be used with weight distribution. This limitation is usually seen when the vehicle uses unibody construction instead of a conventional frame. A weight distribution system applies a great deal of leverage and torque to the vehicle frame (much more than what would be applied in a normal towing situation), and it is the opinion of the hitch manufacturers that the structures on the underside of the vehicle that the hitch attaches to are not strong enough to safely withstand the additional stresses using weight distribution would place upon them.

The only trailer hitch available at present for your 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class GL350 BlueTEC is the Class III trailer hitch # C13173. This hitch as a Maximum gross trailer weight of 7,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 900 lbs. You will want to check your owner's manual to see what the towing capacity of the vehicle is. You will be limited to whichever is lowest.
