Recommended Replacement Motor for Stromberg Carlson LG-1 5th Wheel Landing Gear
Question:
My front jacks operate from just one motor. Sometimes it doesnt want to get going and is very slow. The batteries check out fine and it is getting power. I was thinking about changing out the jacks/system with something that used two jacks. Is that feasible or do I just need to replace the one motor? Can you recommend a replacement or other strategy?

The advantages of a dual motor 5th wheel landing gear set-up are both more actual motor power to do the lifting and the ability to more easily level the trailer side-to-side since the motors can be operated independently. For a single motor landing gear like the # LG-1 we do offer both a replacement motor alone as part # LG-196308 and also as a kit with a switch as part # LG-217884. This fits a range of brands including Lippert and Venture.
It is possible you may also just need to lubricate the jacks. Since the motor works, but struggles to get going, you may simply have a friction issue that can be corrected through lubrication with a product like # L11354.
If you prefer to replace your landing gear with a dual-motor system I recommend the Ultra-Fab # UF17-943010 that offers a 12K capacity, 38-inches of lift and a large 8 x 5-3/4-inch footplate.
