Troubleshooting Trailer Hub that Fits too Tight Against the Brake Assemblies
Question:
Replaced rear axle with complete set up due to right side tire blew off trailer and caught on fire. My issue is with right side drum and hub assembly it is extremely tight when I put the hub on and barely tighten nut. I feel its the brake assebly because I used old hub and does the same thing.

Sounds like the brake assembly you are installing on your trailer has the pads adjusted too far. On the bottom of the assembly there will be a star wheel that you can turn in either direction. You will want to turn it so that the brake pads come closer together which will give your hub more clearance to install.
Check out the video I attached at the 4:25 mark to see one of our installers adjusting the brake assemblies with them installed on the trailer.
