Troubleshooting Trailer Side to Side Shifting While Towing Nose High
Question:
I have a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder. I have a 16foot FunFunderX trailer less than 3500 lbs.. I just started towing with this truck and notice a significant and dangerous rocking when I get above 60 mph not the usual fishtail rearend back and forth swaying but rocking side to side. Im thinking a weight distribution hitch with sway control should help but... Currently the truck barely s in the rear with the weight of the trailer so theres not a whole lot of weight to distribute. I had the problem in the past with a weight dist. system on a Suburban that did almost nothing no tension in the bars. Beyond that I saw that I need the PN RP 54970 which has only a 2inch potential. I need a 5.5inch for my truck this receiver is very high. Will this kind of setup make a difference where weight distribution is barely needed I two without it now? Can I get something with a larger ? Is there another reason I might be having this rocking motion when towing above 60 mph? I have towed this trailer with three other vehicles and have never encountered this rocking at any speed a Suburban, Volvo car, and Mazda Tribute. Could this be some kind og aerodynamic problem?

It sounds like the root of your problem is actually that your ball mount has too much rise and because of that your trailer is nose high and you are encountering sway because of it.
I attached a help article on picking out the correct rise/drop ball mount for you to check out.
Getting your trailer level should fix your problem. A weight distribution system would not help much though so I wouldn't recommend it.
