Having Issues with Swagman XC Bike Rack # S64650 Teeter Tottering Left to Right
Question:
We purchased this bike rack from you 5/24/13 and loved the ease of using it. However, it now sways a LOT. We have to add additional straps to lift the left side of the rack about 8 inches in order to tighten it up to keep if from swaying back and forth teeter tottering left to right. What recommendations do you have for tightening up the rack so that it doesnt bounce around and sway so much? We have considered welding the frame thus we wouldnt be able to collapse it. Thank you,

I spoke with my contact at Swagman and he recommends using threadlocker like Loctite Blue Stick, # LT37643 and re-tighten all of the hardware on the Swagman XC Bike Rack, # S64650, with about 40 to 45 lbs of pressure.
If tightening the hardware still does not fix the teeter tottering issue that you are experiencing, it is possible that the wheel hoop arms or the center mounting bracket could have been bent or damaged during use. This can happen if the bike rack has been overloaded or if it is frequently used while driving on rough terrain. If this is the case, the only option would be to replace the rack.
