Parking Brake on 2009 Saturn Vue XE Makes Warning Chime Even When Not Engaged  

Question:

Hi my parking brake light is on and my car keep chiming as I drive, the only time the chime stop is when I come to a complete stop with foot on break. What is theproblem? The parking brake is not engaged. I dont understand whats going on. Please help!

It sounds like there may be a problem in the braking system wiring in your 2009 Saturn Vue. Unless you have recently installed a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha PowerTrac # 39523 that you referenced there should be no reason for this issue to arise suddenly.

If you have not installed a brake controller then I would refer to your local dealership for help on this since it would be an issue related to the vehicle itself.

If you have installed a trailer brake controller you will want to check your wiring to be certain the four leads for the controller are correctly wired to the vehicle. The black (12V power) wire connects to the battery positive terminal through a circuit breaker; the white (ground) wire connects to the battery negative terminal; the blue (output) wire gets routed to your 7-way trailer socket and the red (brake input signal) wire connects to the wire at the brake light switch that carries voltage ONLY when the pedal is pressed and at no other time.
