Will a Prodigy P2 Have Full Voltage at 7-Way When Brakes are Applied at a Stop

Question:

Hooked up prodigy 2 brake controller #90885 to Chrysler TandC van w/factory tow package. Question is volt meter only shows 0 to 3.86 volts at slot 4 no trailer attached when brakes activated and power knob moved. It does go up to 13.8 with manual knob. Is this correct? Will 3.8v even turn on trailer brake lights? Do I need trailer attached to get more voltes from power knob setting? How break lights work with such low voltage? Dim? run off another slot?

What you described is perfectly normal. The Prodigy P2 # 90885 won't show full voltage unless it senses that the vehicle is braking. Since when you hit the brakes to test the circuit the brake controller cannot sense deceleration the circuit would not put out 12 volts.

Try hooking up to a trailer and seeing if it works.
