Weight Distribution Shank with a Large Drop and Sway Control Adapter Plates for a 1995 Dodge Ram
Question:
Is there an adapter for this kit that will allow the addition of a friction sway control and still use the provided balls at their shaft length? If not is it acceptable to have one or two clips welded to the mount, one on each side, for sway control balls? I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 heavy duty truck with towing package and am currently pulling a 30 TT loaded GVW of maybe 8000 pounds. I am needing the 2 to get the TT back to level and I have found no easy way to get a lower receiver for my old WD hitch that I really dont need with my trucks suspension.

Perhaps the best solution is a different shank for your weight distribution system. Take a look at Weight-Distributing Shank, # RP3215. It has a drop of 6-7/8 inches for round bars, 6-1/8 inches for trunnion bars. There are numerous measurements on the product page to determine if it will fit the hitch on your 1995 Dodge Ram and WD system.
We do have sway control adapters. I have included a link to them below. You would have to make sure the ball shafts length, including those on Ball Mount Kit, # EBMK2216, is long enough to compensate for the 3/8 inch thick adapter plate.
I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite about welding to the ball mount in the EBMK2216 kit. He stated that you can not weld to it.
