When towing a vehicle with a tow bar you will need a tow bar, the required base plates and lights for the vehicle being towed. Also recommended are safety cables.

For your 2002 Mazda Miata the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar - 5,000 lbs, # RM-020, will work with an additional base plate kit. You will need the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 711-4, to attach to your car for the tow bar to connect to.

The brackets attach to your car and the visible portions of the brackets can be removed when not towing. That way you will not see any brackets attached to the car. We also have RoadMaster Black Receiver Inserts for XL Brackets, # RM-200-5, that can be put into to XL brackets on the car to keep dirt and grime out of the receivers when they are not in use.

When the base plate kit is installed on your car, the instructions say that trimming of spoiler, air dam, or plastic fascia may be required on some models. Usually when they say that it is just minor trimming, if any.

I will send you the installation instructions for the brackets by a separate email.

You will also need towing lights like the RoadMaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155, that allow you to use the towed vehicles signal lights without tapping into the vehicles wiring. Works with independent bulbs mounted inside the taillights.

I would also recommend safety cables like RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs., # RM-643.
