Brake controllers are not vehicle specific. So you can install the Hopkins Agility Electric Brake Controller, # HM47294, in your 2005 Honda Accord. The plug, Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter, # HM47935, probably will not fit on the vehicle side, so you would need to hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle. The plug is designed for Honda models that have a factory tow package.

To hardwire the brake controller, there are 3 things you will need. First is the brake controller itself, # HM47294 with # HM47935. Next is Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118302. Finally, you will need a 7 and 4 way installation kit, # ETBC7.

Start by installing the 118302 wiring harness. Installation is simple. I have included a link to the installation details and an installation video below. This is a T-one style connector that plugs in line with your vehicle taillights.

Next, you will need to install the ETBC7. Plug in the 4-Way you just installed to the back of the ETBC7. Connect the white ground wire to an existing ground point or vehicle frame. Next, connect the black wire in the included duplex cable to the black wire on the ETBC7. Connect the white wire of the duplex cable to the blue wire on the ETBC7.

Route the duplex cable under the vehicle up into the engine compartment avoiding areas that might pinch or burn the wire. Separate the two wires of the duplex cable. The black wire stays under the hood, near the battery. The white wire needs to be routed through the fire wall, into the cab of the vehicle near where you want to mount the brake controller.

Under the hood, attach the black wire to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker you will need to mount. Back in the cab, mount the brake controller according to the instructions (linked below). Connect the included plug into the brake controllers plug. Then, clip off the end that normally would attach to a port on the vehicle. Attach the white wire you ran through the fire wall to the blue wire on the brake controller harness.

Attach a length of wire to the brake controller black wire and route it through the firewall and into the engine compartment. Attach this wire to the positive battery terminal via a 20 or 30 amp circuit breaker (see instructions for which size to use). Back in the cab, attach the white wire to an existing ground point or vehicle frame. The last connection is the red wire. This attaches to the stoplight wire on the brake pedal switch above the brake pedal. Find the wire that only carries a signal when the brake pedal is pressed. After this connection installation is complete.
