Parts for a Custom 2K Axle with 58 Inch Spring Centers and 62-1/2 Inch Hub Face Measurements

Question:

I Intend to custom build a 2000 lb rated axle fabricated with 58inch spring centers. Id like to install brakes and plan to purchase the following parts: 23-47/48 brake assemblies 8-173-16UC3 hubs 4-34 flange TRU44FR spindle I believe all of these parts are compatible but once assembled, can they all fit together to achieve a 62.5inch hub to hub dimension with 58inch spring centers? Thanks

The hub face to hub face measurement is all going to depend on how you put it all together but I am sure you could get it to that measurement with the parts you mentioned. We do have 2,000 pound axles ready to go, see link, but they have a 72 inch hub face measurement which is the standard for that particular capacity. The hub face measurement will depend on the length of the axle tube you will be using.

You should know that welding on a brake mounting flange such as # 4-34 requires a special jig and someone with experience installing brake flanges. It is a precision job because the flange has to be perfectly straight and concentric. If it is off even a little it can lead to all sort of problems with the way the trailer tracks and how the brakes function.

All of the parts you have listed are compatible.
