Can Self-Adjusting Electric Trailer Brakes be Added to a Tent Trailer
Question:
I have a 2005 Palomino Yearling 4120 tent trailer which doesnt have brakes. The axel has mounting flanges. Can you tell me which self adjusting electric brake assembly I should purchase as well as drum and hub assembly? Thanks!

I will be happy to help you select some electric brakes for your trailer. in order to do so I will need to know the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. With those numbers I can determine which hub and drum assemblies will fit.
I will also need to know the wheel or tire size and the bolt pattern of the wheel. I have included a link to a help article that explains how to measure for bolt pattern.
In addition to the hub and drum assemblies and the brakes themselves you will also need to add the proper wiring on the trailer and vehicle as well as a brake controller in the vehicle if you don't already have one.
On the trailer you can install 7-Way connector # H20042. Its wire functions are as follows:
White Wire = Ground
Red Wire = Left Turn and Brake
Brown Wire = Right Turn and Brake
Green Wire = Tail Lights
Blue Wire = Brake Power
Black Wire = 12 volt (hot lead)
Yellow Wire = Reverse lights
For the vehicle I would need to know the year, make, and model if it does not already have a 7-Way trailer connector. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because its easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
