Weight Distribution for a Forest River Mini Lite Trailer and 2009 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a Forest River Mini Lite that I will be towing with a 2009 f150. The gvwr for the trailer is 4855lb and the tongue weight is 440lb measured with a bathroom scale. Being new to RVs I dont have a lot of equipment so I m sure Ill be adding some more weight to the front compartment. I dont plan to carry much if any weight in the truck behind the rear wheels. Just wanted to get your opinion on this weight distribution system for my setup. Id like the part number for the recommended 2 5/16 ball as well.

Provided the total tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow is under 600 pounds the Reese system # RP65509 is a great option. And for a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286.
The included shank has a max rise of 6-1/2 inches and max drop of 1-1/4 inches. Other shanks are available separately if more rise or drop is needed.
If you want to also add sway control you can use # 83660. I have included some helpful links on weight distribution for you.
