Making Connections Under the Hood of a 2012 Chevy Suburban to Install a Brake Controller
Question:
Im installing and elecric brake on my 2012 suburban. The brake package states that i need to connect the red wire to the correct up turned stud in front of the fuse box. And to see the owners manual for which one. The owners manual says to have it professionally installed? Can you tell. Me which stud to connect it to

Expert Reply:
If facing the front of your 2012 Chevy Suburban with the cover off of the power distribution box there will be two studs sort of under the gray handle. The larger one is for 12 volt power back to the 7-Way. The smaller one is for power to the brake controller.
The owner's manual probably calls for a professional installation because if you pull that gray handle up too far it can disable the vehicle and a Chevy dealer would have to fix it. I have included some links that should help.
