Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Bike Carrier for a 2012 Honda Crosstour
Question:
Hello, I am looking for the most reasonably priced, sturdy, warranty backed hitch platform 2 bike carrier. I have been scouring the internet for days, and I am no more settled than when I started. I am confused by all of the brands and the differences between them. I initially started out looking in the stores at Thule, Kuat, and Saris, but I have since found others that were unheard of through your site. I dont want to spend a lot of money, but I want to get the best bang for my buck and car, without sacrificing the security and safety of my bikes. What suggestions do you have for my particular car? Thanks

I will be happy to help you choose a platform style bike carrier for your 2012 Honda Crosstour. The most popular option of all platform style carriers is the Swagman XTC # S64670 which would be my pick. Swagman pretty much started the hitch mounted bike carrier industry so they are a major player.
The XTC features a limited lifetime warranty and out of the nearly 400 reviews we have had it carries an average 4.8 out of 5 stars. It is a solid carrier made of steel that uses rubber straps so it is durable. I have included a link to a video review of this carrier for you.
For a similar carrier take a look at the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider, # HR200Z. Hollywood hasn't been around as long but several avid bike riders here at etrailer are impressed by the overall quality of this carrier. It is very similar in design to the XTC and uses hook and loop straps instead of rubber. It also features a limited lifetime warranty.
A new arrival from a newer company, the Kuat Transfer, # KU74FR, is another solid option. Kuat makes fantastic bike carriers and this one weighs just 47 pounds. It holds the bikes at the wheels and not the frame at all so bikes with fenders would not fit. It also has a limited lifetime warranty.
