How to Install Replacement Extend/Retract Switch # 7145-226023 on JET-2500 Electric A-Frame Jack

Question:

The extend/retract switch went bad on my LCI 3500 tongue jack model # 181794. I have removed the 4 phillips head screws but I cant get the plastic cover off to access the switch. I have tried to pry on it but it is still very tight and I am affraid of breaking the cover. What am I missing?

My manufacturer contact advised that the four screws you have removed are the only fasteners holding the outer jack cover in place. However, I completely understand your concern about applying too much force on the plastic cover. My contact suggested gently applying a flat blade screwdriver blade around the cover's edges to find the spot that most wants to "give" a little. This point would then be your best spot to carefully apply a bit more force to get the cover loose.
