Weight Distribution Shank with 6 Inch Drop for a Reese Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System

Question:

i just purchased a 2014 gmc sierra and pulling a 5,000 lb car trailer. I have a trunion reese weight distribution hitch that used a hitch bar 54970 on my last truck. I have calculated a 6 inch drop on the 2014 gmc with the trailer. can i use the 63971 hitch bar assuming suspension squat?

Reese weight distribution shank # RP63971 is compatible with your Reese trunnion bar system and offers a maximum 4-3/4 inches of drop. When a weight distribution system is set up properly you should see hardly any squat in the suspension because that is what the system was designed to prevent.

Shank # RP3215 might be a better fit because it offers a drop of 5-3/4 inches on a trunnion bar system. I have linked a video review of this shank for you.
