Raising Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Out of Exhaust Path on 2015 Subaru Forester
Question:
I plan on getting one of these. Looks like a great product. I saw in the video, that the right corner was in line with the tailpipe. Could I use a ball bar with a rise to get the carrier up above the tailpipe? I know I would have to remove the carrier to open the rear hatch. But it would not be in line with the pipe. I have a class III hitch on my 2015 forrester I bought from you. It went on quick and easy. Got it real fast. Love it, Im glad it is a heavy hitch although the car will only tow 1,500 lbs.

On any vehicle that has the exhaust that exits straight out the back could potentially damage a trailer hitch mounted item and its contents.
Here is a solution. To get enough distance from the exhaust you can use multipurpose ball mount # D210 and that will get you plenty far from the exhaust. Because it is not technically an adapter it will not reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch. The 2 inch receiver part is 3-9/16 inches up from the top of the ball mount shank. Keep in mind that the the receiver portion is rated at 350 lbs.
