Recommended Location for Installing Lend-a-Hand Folding Grab Handle # AM-200 on Keystone Premier
Question:
My father purchased a grab handle to install on his 2012bullett premiere. When he tried to attach it the screws went right through the wall into the inside of the camper. He installed it over the little handle that came with the camper. Any ideas?

Installation of any new handle on a trailer, such as the Stromberg Carlson Lend-a-Hand Folding Grab Handle # AM-200 installed on your Dad's 2012 Keystone Bullet Premier, requires that there be an underlying surface strong enough to secure the mounting hardware and take some of the weight of the person pulling on the handle.
Installing the Lend-a-Hand in a new position that did not have a handle before will require first checking to make sure that there is enough structural material behind the camper's outer skin to accept the hardware. In some cases it may be necessary to remove an exterior panel to find a suitable spot. Sometimes it may also be necessary to reinforce the mounting point if the manufacturer's original construction is not strong enough to take the load from the handle. He may also need to use longer hardware to reach the internal structure.
Since his 2012 Premier is a recent model year, odds are pretty good that if he provides his trailer VIN number to the folks at Keystone they should be able to suggest locations on the trailer that have the required strength to accept the handle's hardware.
