Tow Package Wire Shorted Out when Installing Brake Controller on 2010 Chevy Suburban
Question:
I was hooking up my switch while reaching under the dash to grab the plug the wires I stripped from the truck arced out, now there is no power to the wire. What fuse did I blow I just check and they all seem good. The stud by the fuse box has no power either but the charging one does everything else on truck and trailer seem to work??

On the tow package wiring for a 2010 Chevy Suburban the red/black wire supplies 12 volt power to the brake controller, the white wire is ground, the light blue/white wire is the brake light signal,
dark blue is output to the trailer brakes, and orange is the center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL).
If it was the brake light signal then you would look for the stop light fuse but might also want to check the CHMSL fuse to be on the safe side. But it sounds like you need to make the under the hood connections to make everything fully functional.
I have included a link to a help article that explains the connections that need to be made under the hood as well as general brake controller installation information on GM SUVs like your Suburban.
The stop light and CHMSL fuses are in location 12 in the in-cab panel and location 49 under the hood. The tow package fuses are all under the hood in locations 1, 3, 6, 10, 25, and 68. See the owners manual for more information.
