Can a Boat Trailer with No Brakes Have Surge Disc Brakes Installed
Question:
I currently have a newer boat trailer with a swing away tong, and no breaks. I am wondering if I can buy a kit to retrofit that trailer to add surge breaks to it?

To pick out a surge brake setup that would fit your trailer you will need to know a few thing first in order to pick out the correct parts.
You are going to need to know the width of your trailer tongue so that you can pick out the correct actuator to attach to it, and you will need to know what bearings and wheel bolt pattern your trailer wheels has so that you can get hubs that will fit the trailer spindle and will allow your wheels to attach.
I attached a help article that will walk you through the entire process of how to add surge brakes to a trailer.
The # T4843300 that you referenced will require you to have inner bearings of L68149 and outer bearing L44649 as well as a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches.
