Bike Carrier Recommendations for a 2005 Pontiac G6

Question:

2005 Pontiac G6 Bike Rack recommendation I would like a recommendation as to what type of bike rack would be best for my vehicle. We would be traveling long distance with one womans bike and possibly a childs. I want something sturdy that I wouldnt have to worry about falling off during long travel at 70 miles an hour. Would it be necessary for me to install a hitch on my vehicle? I am completely new to this so any information you have will be very appreciated! My biggest concern is making sure the bike rack/bikes would be secure and stay where they are supposed to! Thank you so much for your time!

For your 2005 Pontiac G6 you could use a trunk mounted bike carrier. The Hollywood Racks Express 3 # HRE3 is a versatile carrier that fits the sedan and coupe models, but it does not work with spoilers. Looking at the pictures of this rack installed and pictures of the Pontiac G6, I believe it would avoid the small flat spoiler on the G6. I have included a link to a video review for you to check out and see what you think. .

You can also install a trailer hitch, # 36426, and use a hitch mount bike carrier. This is going to be the safest way to carry bikes on the vehicle and it will also keep the bikes off of your G6. For a bike carrier you can use a platform style carrier such as # HR200Z which is compatible with many bike styles but if the kid's bike has 16 or 18 inch wheels you would also need adapter # HRSW-ADP-2.

If you go with the hanging style trunk mount carrier and will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
