Parts Needed to Add Hydraulic Surge Brakes to a Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a 2013 Miska Utility Trailer with a 3000b axle and 14inch tires. I am thinking about putting surge breaks on it. Do you have a kit that is appropriate for this? Thanks

A great starting point for your trailer project is the linked article that covers the components and processes for adding hydraulic drum brakes to a trailer. Your trailer will need to have brake flanges or you can have them added by a qualified welder. You'll need to select hub/drum assemblies that use the same bearings and bolt pattern as your existing hubs to ensure that they will fit your spindles and wheels. You'll choose hydraulic drum brakes to fit those hubs and to match your 3000-lb axle rating and you'll need a surge coupler for drum brakes and finally a brake line kit. We do not have a complete all-inclusive kit for your application but we can offer you the components individually. The article includes links you can use to choose appropriate components.

We do offer complete axle kits with electric brakes in a 3500-lb rating in case you prefer to simplify the addition of brakes by going the electric route. Such a kit is the # e43SR which requires a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. An article on adding electric brakes to a trailer is also linked for reference.

Please let me know the model number and VIN for your trailer and I will see what I can find for you.
