An easy way to tell which of your transmission fluid lines is the return line is to wait for the truck to be cold, then start it up and shift into drive for about 15 seconds and apply a bit of throttle with the brake firmly applied. Then put it back in park and turn off the truck. Then under the truck carefully touch the transmission lines. One will be noticeably warmer. So that makes the cooler one the return line.
