Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder
Question:
Looking into a Weight Distribution Hitch and this Pro-Series seems to have great reviews. We are towing a 2011 Jayco Jay Feather X19H. 3650lb dry with a tongue weight of 440lbs. The Pathfinder has a 600lb tongue weight and 6000lb tow capacity. I believe the TT has a 1300lb weight cap putting it 4900lbs or so, although we carry at most 300-500lb in supplies and clothing. We recently towed 1 short trip without a weight hitch and the rear sagged down a good 3-4inch and raised the front wheels significantly, wasnt the best driving experience. Our camping trips consists of mostly weekends only so we are not over packed with supplies. We are looking to add the weight hitch before our next trip in a few weeks. Thanks for your help!

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
So if when your trailer is loaded the tongue weight falls in the range of the # 49570 (700 to 1,200 lbs), this system would work well for you. But since the tongue weight limit for your 2009 Nissan Pathfinder is 600 lbs this system couldn't work well for you without overloading your vehicle (which I can't recommend).
For a similar system that would fit the range of your vehicle you would want the part # PS49901 which has a tongue weight range of up to 550 lbs.
